Attic BCN

El Borne, Barcelona

In the historic centre of Barcelona, it is proposed to make use of the roof of an 18th Century building to create a loft, where originally the water tanks for the building were located.
A minimum space with a glazed opening to the south, allowing the sun to track across the space throughout the day.
The interior space is extended by the terrace from which the interior is accessed.
The roof of the loft is displaced to form an attic, functioning as an intimate space from which to contemplate the gothic roofs of the church Santa Maria del Mar.
