Signs of Empathy in Contemporary Design
Laboratory of Interactive Objects and Spaces

The book presents reflections and projects from research team members and students of the Interactive
Space Design Studio (operating in the Department of Interior Architecture at the
Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław), based on, among other things, empathetic
accents of their own design work and the effects of jointly conducted didactics.
The purpose of these practices is to better understand the specificity and effectiveness
of interdisciplinary design processes that use philosophical approaches, communication strategies,
and new technologies to generate innovative solutions that shape sustainable social
attitudes. The objective of further analysis will be to provide evidence that design can intervene
in the issue of sustainable development not only as a means of solving problems, but also
as a mechanism for understanding emotions or social moods, and as a tool for manifesting,
criticizing, educating, or prototyping our future.
