Iceland | Reykjavik | Elliðaár river

As an academic member of the Landscape Architecture study program – LARK IV, carried out at the Faculty of Planning and Design at AUI University, Iceland, alongside students of Landscape Architecture and Forestry, We have been involved in developing landscape and environmental proposals aimed at strengthening the connection between the Elliðaár River and the city of Reykjavik. This collaborative project included urban designers Edda Ívarsdóttir and Hrafnkel Proppé, as well as professor Helena Guttormsdóttir. The initial phase of this project focused on identifying, mapping, and analyzing the Elliðaár River, Reykjavik’s primary river, which flows into the Atlantic. The river is a significant ecosystem, home to a rich biodiversity, including salmon, and plays a vital role in the region’s natural and urban environment.
